MADE TO BE READ

Accessibility information

The site’s navigation, reading, and motion features—and how to tell us about a barrier you encounter.

Navigate by keyboard

Use the Skip to content link at the start of a page to reach the main content. Links and buttons have visible focus styles. On smaller screens, the Menu button opens the navigation; Escape closes it and returns focus to the button.

Frequently asked questions use native expandable details. Article tables of contents link to section headings, with spacing intended to keep the sticky header from covering the target.

Read at your own size

The layouts adapt from small screens to larger displays. Text can be enlarged using browser zoom. Articles have descriptive headings, readable line spacing, and meaningful image alternatives.

The included typefaces have system-font fallbacks. The core reading content and article links remain available without JavaScript; category archives provide an alternative to the optional article-filter buttons.

Control decorative motion

The homepage’s scrolling bands and animated wordmark are decorative. The Pause motion control stops site animations for the current page. The design also respects your device or browser’s reduced-motion preference.

Repeated decorative marquee content is hidden from assistive technology so it does not repeat the navigation as a reading task. Hover effects are not required to discover a link’s destination.

Printing and downloads

Field notes have a print-friendly layout, and the three downloadable templates are ordinary text files. You can use the formats that best suit your reading or note-taking needs.

Copy-to-clipboard actions announce a success or an unavailable-feature message without opening a new page. The visible email address and browser address remain usable when clipboard access is restricted.

Report a problem

Email [email protected] with the page address, the task you were attempting, and a description of the barrier. Browser, device, or assistive-technology details can help when you are comfortable sharing them.

This page describes implemented features; it is not a claim of formal accessibility certification or complete testing with every assistive technology. Please report anything that does not work as described.
